PB knockoff wall bookshelf…

I spent the first five years of our marriage wanting a baby, and went through miscarriages and infertility issues before we finally had Justin!!  That time waiting to get pregnant stressed me out—but also gave me loads of time to think about how I wanted to decorate a nursery for my baby.

I wanted something sentimental from my husband for our baby.  So he ended up making a diaper changing table cabinet with my dad, and a wall bookcase with his dad.

I love the look of a magazine style bookcase where you can see the book covers instead of their bindings.  I wanted something homemade and didn’t want to pay the price for one from Pottery Barn—and I didn’t like the sizes they offered.

I found this bookcase instructions from Martha Stewart, you can find it here, and put my husband to work!!  it turned out so cute, and I had to have it red!!  So I painted it Santa Red:)

This bookcase has been installed and uninstalled several times through the years as we moved and it is durable!  My favorite part is the lowest shelf which my smallest kiddos can reach by themselves.

It adds so much color to our playroom and is a great focal point in the room!!

Now, please make me feel better by telling me you have books that look like this in your house…

May I just clarify—we don’t have ANY animals at our house!!  What are my children doing to these books!?!?  They are literally eating me out of house and home…

  2. I have a lot of books that look like that. Malachi went through a stage where he was eating all the cardboard that he could find and that included many books. You can still read them so no reason to through them away!! Love the book shelf!!

  3. My oldest son used to do that to his board books too. We ended up moving all of his books out of his room each night at bed time otherwise he chew until he fell asleep. Then during the day we'd put them back for reading.
Nope - it's not just your kids!!

  5. I DEFINITELY have LOTS of books that look like yours and our only animals are chickens that stay outside. Dog-eared books are completely caused by cellulose deficient children in my home!
