Little guy’s half of the room…

My little guy got a lot of hand-me-downs for his room.  The valance fabric is from Justin’s nursery, and the little scrap patch quilt I made for Justin when he was just one years old….sniff…sniff

My mom embroidered this beautiful red-work sampler for Justin…

If you missed my post about how to make these fabric covered frames, click here.  They are easy to make, and the wooden frame is only $3 at IKEA!!
I made these three frames a few years ago from some of Justin’s old nursery fabric extras.  I am in love with the toile Winnie the Pooh fabric—isn’t it so sweet??  I had a bunch of it in red too that my mom made a blanket out of for Little Miss.  I did antique all three of these frames and it gives them a nice “worn” look that I love.
The valences were SO easy to make, and I’ve had a few people ask for a tutorial on the one I made for Little Miss—so I’ll post a tutorial on the two valances this week!!
I can’t get over this picture of Justin and Little Miss…

They were just 4 and 2 1/2 years old and Justin had just been diagnosed with Autism six months earlier.  Justin wasn’t too fond of anyone hugging him, as you can tell in the picture—but Little Miss was always persistent and devoted in helping Justin overcome his symptoms of Autism.  I love this picture because it shows the soft spot that both of them have always had for each other!!  Watching their relationship over the years has taught me so much about unconditional love and how simple it can be.  And now, 5 1/2 years later, Justin is our little cuddle bug—sometimes we have to tell him to back off and give us some room!!  Makes me smile every time I walk past this picture…
